THE Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) joined the nation in the observance of the Fire Prevention Month through the conduct of fire drill.

The drill, which is anchored on the theme: “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa,” was conducted Tuesday, February 28, at the Naval Station Romulo Espaldon in Calarian village, Zamboanga City.

“The drill aims to assess the readiness and alertness of the headquarters NFWM to respond in the event of a real fire emergency inside the camp,” Rear Admiral Donn Anthony Miraflor, NFWM commander, said.

Miraflor said that during the fire drill, a series of emergency scenarios such as search and rescue, firefighting procedure, First Aid and Basic Life Support, were engaged that further reequipped the personnel with enough knowledge and skills in order to maintain the highest safety standards and to eliminate or minimize risks to personnel.

“Fire drill plays a very important role in the fire safety of a workplace through proper practice of emergency procedure and keep it running as intended to protect all personnel from not only fire but also other similar situations,” he said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
