AT LEAST three private garbage contractors participated in the pre-bidding conference in Bacolod City for the collection, hauling, and disposal of garbage in the city.

Mary Jean Ramos, chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), said Thursday, March 2, the three companies include the current city’s garbage hauler, IPM Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC), Metrowaste Solidwaste Management Corporation, both from Manila, and Homeworld from Bacolod City.

She said the pre-bidding conference was held on February 27 at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), adding that they discussed the terms of reference and other matters.

Ramos noted that they started releasing the bid documents on Thursday to the interested bidders for P20,000, and the deadline for submission will be on March 13, followed by the opening of the bid documents the next day,

The Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) is worth P183,999,000.

Ramos said the Department of Public Services (DPS), the monitoring arm of the solid waste management board, required the interested bidders to submit the complete documents, which include the International Standard Organization (ISO) registrations, among others.

She said the IPM-CDC’s contract will end on April 30, and the winning bidder will start in May and continue until December. Its services will be extended only based on the provision’s ability to extend.

Aside from the collection, hauling, and disposal of garbage, she said the city will also hold a bidding for the management and operation of the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa with the ABC’s P64 million.

After the bidding, BAC can proceed with the post-qualification, notice of award, and notice to proceed for the winning bidder.*
