A SECURITY guard was shot to death by unidentified assailant at 23rd Lacson Street, Barangay 5, Bacolod City, on Thursday night, March 2, 2023.
Police identified the fatality as Jofen Dequito, 42, of Iwatch Security Agency, and resident of Hacienda Bernabe Dos, Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
Captain Jonito Pastrana, commander of Police Station 2, said Friday, March 3, that the victim, who was assigned to one of the resto bars at 23rd Lacson Street, was found lying on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to the head.
He died on the spot.
Police recovered from the scene was an empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol.
Pastrana said the footage from the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera showed that before the incident, the victim was seen talking to three unidentified men, who had wrongly parked their car in the area.
He said the three men transferred their car to another parking area and went inside one of the resto bars in the area.
After a few hours, the two men left the bar while their companion stayed in the area and shot the security guard, he added.
Pastrana said the suspect also took the service firearm of the victim and fled.
The police are eyeing misunderstanding as a possible motive in the killing of the victim.
Pastrana said they are still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the identity of the suspect.
