F2F classes suspended due to transport strike

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Governor Dennis Pineda suspended the face-to-face (F2F) or in-person classes in all schools in the province starting today, Monday until March 8 due to the nationwide transport strike.

The weeklong strike scheduled March 6 to 12 is a protest against the impending phase out of traditional jeepneys under the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program or PUVMP.

Pineda issued Executive No. 03 - 2023 over the weekend to avoid inconvenience on students who use jeepneys to go to their respective schools.

“In view of the said imminent nationwide transport strike, there is a need to adopt contingency measures to alleviate the plight of the substantial number of student commuters who will be affected by the transport strike,” said Pineda.

The governor urged schools to implement modular or online learning instead.
