Dabawenya bags award in intl violin tilt

FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Dabawenya, Ling Gamyang Jayma, recently won the 2nd prize in Singapore International Violin Competition virtual format.

Jayma is a student of Master Violinist from Poland, Robert Stormowski and has undergone masterclasses with other renowned teachers from Poland and Italy. In 2021, ahe also received 1st Prize in Swiss International Violin Competition. In her winning piece for the 2023 Singapore Music Competition, she was accompanied by Davao-based Master Pianist Wendy Kuo.

The judges for this event are of renown background and credentials. The event involved around 320 advanced violinists and pianists around the world. The event will culminate in a Ceremony and Gala Concert for selected winners at the prestigious Lee Foundation Theatre Hall at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore on March 19, 2023 where the prize winners will also receive their award.

Other than the Ceremony and Gala Concert for which Ling Gamyang is invited, there will be MasterClasses and preparatory sessions for the participants from March 13 to March 19, 2023 at the Singapore Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Jayma will also be featured and interviewed in Davao's Mango Radio 102.7 FM on March 7, 2023. This award has become an inspiration to all other musicians in Davao City as already published in social media. One can watch Jayma's winning performance and piece on Youtube:
