Year-round programs for women up in San Simon

SAN SIMON The local government here on Monday joined the nation in celebrating the National Women's Month.

Several programs aimed at celebrating the roles and sacrifices of women for their family and community.

The Juana Zumba 2023, song number presentations, and recognition of women leaders were held during the activity held at the municipal hall.

Mayor Abundio "JP" Punsalan Jr. said the recognition of women's role in San Simon is not just a one-day activity.

He said programs that will ensure the overall health and wellness of women of all ages are offered year-round by the local government.

These include free pap smear, pre and post-natal check-ups, medical assistance, livelihood and skills training programs, among others.

"Alam natin ang role ng mga babae hindi lang sa pamilya kundi maging sa community. Malaki ang ambag nila sa tuluy-tuloy na pagsulong ng San Simon," Punsalan said.

The mayor said two of their councilors and most of the local government employees are women.

He also recognized the leadership of women leaders who brought progress in Pampanga, specifically former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Vice Governor Lilia Pineda.

"Naiintindihan natin na maraming bagay at trabaho na mas kaya ng mga kababaihan kaya saludo ang buong San Simon sa mga Juana," he said.
