THE Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Visayas (BFP 7) is planning to construct fire stations in five Cebu municipalities that do not have their own fire station yet.

Fire Superintendent Raul Bustaliño of BFP 7 Operations Division told SunStar Cebu on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, that the procurement process of new fire stations in Alcoy, Borbon, Ronda, Santander and Tabogon is still underway.

He said the beneficiary local government units (LGUs) are still finalizing the donation procedures for the lots intended for the fire station.

Bustaliño made an assurance that once the lot donations are done, they will include the project in their budget allocation.

"If these places have already completed the land donation process. Hopefully we can carry them out so that we can start the construction of P10 million worth of building infrastructure," said Bustaliño in Cebuano.

To recall, procuring additional fire stations is among the long-term goals under the Republic Act 11589 or the BFP Modernization Act of 2021. (KJF)
