WOMEN in the Province of Guimaras can no longer be considered a marginalized sector.
Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD made the declaration at the Women's Forum held on March 9, 2023 at the Provincial Covered Gym.
In his message, the governor emphasized that in Guimaras, the women sector is well-represented in politics. Even in the Provincial Government of Guimaras, the majority of employees are women, he said.
He said this only shows that in Guimaras, the role played by women is recognized.
Governor Nava ensured the continues advancement of women's rights through the gender and development advocacies of the Provincial Government and the Kabataan First agenda of his administration which promotes a resilient socio economic movement for the future of Guimaras through Focused tourism, trade, investment, and employment; Integrated Infrastructure Development; Responsive Health Care and Social Welfare and Development Services; Sustainable Economy; Trusted Fiscal and Bureaucratic Management.
The women's forum organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office is in line with the celebration of National Women's Month with a theme: "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society."
Governor Nava said that it is the Provincial Government's advocacy to celebrate women's rights everyday.
He said that the celebration of National Women's Month is a reminder of the contribution, role, and future of women in Guimaras.
The forum was participated by 100 women from the five municipalities of the province who are members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (Kalipi), a non-political, non-profit organization that promotes women's development and empowerment.
Couple Clint and Leanne Jurisprudencia from Goducate(Go and Educate), a non-profit organization dedicated to working closely with the poor communities in Asia to create a sustainable society served as the resource speakers. (PR)
