FOUR Pinoy pugs are seeing action on March 10 in “People’s Fighters” at the Cuban Boxing Club in Little Cuba, Dubai, UAE.
Harminto Dela Torre, Adam Diu Abdulhamid, Alie Laurel are up against unbeaten Cuban fighters, while former ALA Boy Elmo Traya faces an undefeated Ugandan.
Dela Torre is fighting in the main event against world-rated Jadier Herrera.
Dela Torre attempts to bounce back after losing to Japanese Masayoshi Nakatani by a sixth round knockout at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan last year.
The 20-year-old Herrera had a banner year in 2022 after winning all his five fights—defeating the likes of Eduard Mancito, Marjohn Yap, Pablo Robles, Mauro Perouene and former world title challenger Franklin Manzanilla. He demolished Manzanilla in the fifth round to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) International super featherweight belt.
Herrera is already ranked No. 8 by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
The 29-year-old Dela Torre is 22-4 with 14 knockouts, while Herrera is 9-0 with seven knockouts.
Meanwhile, journeyman Abdulhamid (17-12, 9 KOs) trades leathers with 19-year-old Cuban prospect Jesus Gamboa (8-0, 2 KOs).
In other fights, ex-regional champion Laurel (19-7-1, 11 KOs) is up against Dayan Gonzalez (8-0, 6 KOS) and Traya (12-4, 8 KOs) locks horns with Abdul Azizi Ssebulime (8-0, 6 KOs).
