FRUIT vendors at the Magsaysay Fruit Stand noted a drop in the prices of durian due to an increase in local supply.

Based on the price monitoring conducted by SunStar Davao on March 9, 2023, the price of durian at the Magsaysay Fruit Stand now ranges from P60 to P100 per kilogram (kg) compared to last week's average price that ranged from P100/kg to P120/kg.

Fruit vendors said they have received additional supply from producers in Davao City, especially from farms in Calinan and Toril.

However, they added that despite the lower price, durian sales are still not enough because there are fewer visitors and customers in the area.

"Basin mga next week kay murag dnha naman daghang mga event, daghan nagyud na mga bisita mangabot (Maybe next week there will be more visitors because of the (Araw ng Dabaw) activities)," Rey, a fruit vendor in Magsaysay Fruit Stand, said.

They are still not sure whether the price will increase or decrease in the coming days as the availability of the supply will dictate how the price will change. Julie Ar Sibala, UIC Intern
