THE Philippine Army in Eastern Visayas has deployed 564 newly enlisted army personnel to their designated army units in the region, a military spokesperson said Thursday, March 9, 2023.

The new batch of soldiers, with ranks of privates, finished their basic military during their candidate soldier course last February 20, 2023, according to Army Captain Jefferson Mariano.

Major General Camilo Ligayo, commander of the 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division based in Catbalogan City, expressed confidence in the new privates' “ability to succeed.”

“After hurdling the rigorous training, it is with great expectations that you are physically, emotionally, and psychologically prepared to face the multifarious challenges ahead,” Ligayo told the new privates during their send-off ceremony Wednesday, March 8.

The military official also encouraged the new batch of soldiers to give their “best efforts” in performing their assignments.

“The newly trained soldiers will now contribute to the 8ID's various humanitarian efforts and peace initiatives in ending communist armed conflict, as four of the country's last five guerilla fronts are located in Region 8,” the Army said. (SunStar Philippines)
