THE General Services Office (GSO) of Bacolod City already served the notice to explain to the government employees who failed to report or present the government-issued vehicles, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Friday, March 10.

Benitez said GSO officer-in-charge Victor Espina submitted its report on Wednesday, March 8, and that they served notices to the employees who are responsible for the government vehicles that are still missing.

"After the notice to explain, we will serve the show cause order, followed by the filing of appropriate charges against them if they fail to locate the missing vehicles," he said.

The city is still looking for at least 90 government vehicles that were issued to city employees.

Of the 500 government-issued vehicles, 88 are not reported, and 13 others have no documents to be verified.

Of the number, 197 vehicles are still serviceable, 108 are unserviceable, 90 are not found, and four were already returned, City Administrators Office records showed.

Benitez earlier issued a memorandum directing all employees who were given a memorandum receipt (MR) of the government vehicles to prepare the units for an inspection at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).

On March 6, the City Government launched the Mayor Albee Benitez (MAB)-Cabat the BCGC to ensure that all vehicles are used for official purposes.

The MAB-Cab is a digital booking application to determine the travel location of city government employees. It will allow offices in BCGC to effectively book a ride for their field work or other services.

Benitez said that after the soft launch of MAB-Cab, of the 20 vehicles on standby, only 10 units were booked by city employees on that particular day.

"So it means we have enough vehicles for our department heads that will be used for their official travel and transportation," he said.*
