Government starts P12M farm-market road in Aurora

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) over the weekend started the construction of a farm-to-market road in the remote area of Maria Aurora town in Aurora province.

Once completed, the road will benefit residents of barangays Dianawan, Diaat and Bayanihan there.

This is part of the government’s effort to address the root causes of insurgency.

The P12-million road is funded under the Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program of the NTF-ELCAC.

The Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry Battalion (91IB) spearheads the project.

Lieutenant Colonel Julito Recto, Jr., commander of 91 IB, said they first conducted a community support program (CSP).

This is the Army's tool that aims to bring peace and development in conflict-affected barangays.

Aside from this, the program is an initiative to bring the government closer to the people through an immediate delivery of basic services, especially to far-flung communities.

The DILG thanked the 91IB for its community support program in the province.
