THE city government of Bacolod is now preparing for the Chicken Inasal Festival in May this year, Councilor Jason Villarosa said Monday, March 13.
Villarosa, chairperson of the City Council committee on tourism, said they held a meeting last week with Councilor Celia Matea Flor, chairperson of the City Council committee on markets, and they asked Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to convene the working committee of the Chicken Inasal Festival.
He said they also talked with various offices at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) to prepare all the materials for the festival.
He added that it’s also one of Benitez's proposals to include the Music Festival celebration in May.
The councilor noted that the Music Festival Ordinance had only been approved this year.
"It’s the proposal of the mayor to celebrate the Chicken Inasal and Music Festivals in one event," Villarosa said.
He said the city allotted P1 million for the Chicken Inasal Festival, and they will ask for an additional budget since it will be held for three days, adding that they are also proposing that the two festivals be handled by a private organization for the smooth flow of the program.
The first Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival was celebrated in 2018 with the participation of various chicken vendors in the city.*
