100 more voter applications in Bacolod disapproved

THE Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City has disapproved an additional of 100 voter registration applications during their deliberation on Friday, March 10.

City Election Officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said Tuesday, March 14, they initially disapproved 30 applicants for using fake identification cards.

She said that from March 6 to 10, they disapproved a total of 130 applicants.

Of the number, 15 of them are disapproved for using fake PhilHealth cards, 15 are in excess of the three applicants that a registered voter may identify, 13 are opposed applicants, and 87 are disapproved on ocular inspection.

From December 12, 2022, to January 31, 2023, Comelec-Bacolod recorded a total of 13,787 new registrants in the city and subjected them to ERB hearings.

The ERB was chaired by Trinio-Caña along with its members, the Civil Registrar Office, and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bacolod.

Trinio-Caña said of the 13,787 new registrants, 16 applicants were opposed and 13 of them were disapproved.

Of the number, 14 are from Barangay 4, while two others are from Barangay 41.

Trinio-Caña said that they will send the notice of disapproval to the applicants this week.

"This is final, and we will send the final report to the Comelec national office," she said.

After the cleansing of their records, she added that they will prepare the clustering of the voting precincts for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in October 2023.*
