Oro names 2022 'Most PWD-Friendly Barangays'

BARANGAYS 35 and Mambuaya in Cagayan de Oro were hailed as the top villages in the City Government's search for the "Most PWD (persons with disabilities)-Friendly Barangay" in the urban and rural categories, respectively.

Each of the said barangays received a plaque and a cash prize worth P50,000.

The city named Barangay Bulua as second placer followed by Barangay Lumbia as the third placer. They received a cash prize of P40,000 and P30,000, respectively.

The Search for the Most PWD-Friendly Barangay, which is open to 80 barangay within Cagayan de Oro, aims to encourage, motivate and give due recognition to barangays who have demonstrated commitment in providing services to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) constituents.

Participating barangays were assessed based on the following criteria: governance infrastructure, health, education, social protection, and participation.

The City Government recognized the barangays which excelled in each of the engagement pillars. Barangay Bulua was hailed as the Best in Governance, Best in Education and Best in Social Protection; Barangay 35 was Best in Health and Best in Participation; and Barangay Mambuaya was Best in Infrastructure.

Diane Arbilon of Barangay Camaman-an was named as the Most PWD-Friendly Focal Person.

Barangays 14 and Camaman-an also received the "Hall of Famer" award.

All of the barangays that received the special awards were given a cash prize of P10,000.
