Over P1-M shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P1,020,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in a joint drug bust operation by operatives of Police Station 4 and Special Operation Unit (SOU)-Western Visayas at Rizal Extension, Purok Star Apple 2, Barangay 27, Bacolod City on Tuesday morning, March 14.

The operation also led to the arrest of Mark Salmingo, 26, a resident of the said village.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) records showed that the suspect was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer.

Police recovered from Salmingo's possession 13 medium-sized heat-sealed plastic sachets, 45 heat-sealed plastic sachets, and one knot-tied plastic containing suspected shabu weighing 150 grams, the P11,500 marked money, and a belt bag.

The suspect is being held at the custodial facility of Police Station 4.

He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002.

Meanwhile, two drug personalities were also arrested in a drug bust operation by operatives of Police Station 2 at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City, Tuesday afternoon.

Police identified the suspects as Ronnie Diaz, 48, and Carlo Cuadra, 21, both residents of the said village.

Captain Jonito Pastrana, chief of Police Station 4, said the suspects were arrested after one of them sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer.

The police recovered from the suspects’ possession four plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P13,600 and the marked money.

Pastrana said Diaz was included in the names of people allegedly involved in drugs where the list was found with the severed hands found along Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2, in January.

He said Cuadra, a former detainee, was the son of Belinda Cuadra, who was also included in the list. He’s also the brother of Chin Chin Cuadra, who was arrested in Silay City for violation of illegal drugs, and Aki Cuadra, an alleged leader of a robbery group in Bacolod.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 2, and will face drug charges.*
