THE Bacolod City Local Market Committee (LMC) has formed a composite team to revalidate the master list of market vendors at the Libertad Public Market in the city.

Councilor Celia Matea Flor, chairperson of the City Council committee on markets, said Thursday, March 16, that they still need to revalidate the list because it has reached 529 vendors.

"In the initial master list, we only had 300 vendors, but now it’s already 529 vendors, and we only have 114 available stalls on the ground floor and 117 on the second floor," she said.

She added that the composite team will conduct the mapping of the stalls at the Libertad Public Market to ensure that the vendors included in the master list are actively operating in the area.

The composite team is composed of personnel from the office of Flor, the city treasurer’s office, and the market supervisors.

After the mapping, Flor said they will release the final masterlist, and they will hold the raffle for the stalls at the Libertad Public Market Annex Building.

"We can only accommodate at least 100 vendors at the Annex Building, so we need to raffle off the names of the qualified market vendors," she said.

She added that they will hold another meeting with the officials of the market associations to help them find solutions for those who will not be accommodated in the area.

Aside from the Libertad Public Market, Flor said the stalls at the Burgos Public Market will also be raffled off to the market vendors, except in the fish section since they have enough stalls.

"We are hopeful to accommodate all the vendors in Burgos Public Market," she said.
