City Hall, CCLEX officials inspect areas to be affected by ramp

THE officials of Cebu City government and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) visited the areas that will be affected by the ramp to be built from V. Rama Avenue to the bridge.

Raquel Bohol-Arce, the director of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), reported that the houses from V. Rama to Barangay Pasil that will be demolished as part of the development were inspected by her office, the Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor, and the City Planning and Development Office staff.

The representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas, however, were not present.

According to Arce, there will be two construction projects on the ramp: first, CCLEX will link it from the bridge to Barangay Pasil, and second, the road going to V. Rama that will be connected to the ramp, which will be funded by the DPWH.

Arce revealed that the DPWH will buy the private properties affected by the project through expropriation.

The city government and the DPWH will also perform socioeconomic surveys or profiling to identify the homes that will be impacted and provide them a remedy.

Mayor Michael Rama lobbied for the project in order for vehicles from the midtown and uptown areas, including those from N. Bacalso Avenue, to have easy access to the third Cebu-Mactan bridge. The project broke ground on November 8, 2022.

The event was attended by Rama, CCLEX general manager Allan Alfon and Cordova Mayor Cesar Suan. (PAC, TPT)
