The idol vs the ideal

The idol vs the ideal

THERE is something sad about this world we live in... actually a lot, but I will focus on just one: the blindness that success brings.

We’ve seen it happen many times in all forms — from showbiz to business to family members. Someone will make it big and along with it, the adoring crowd. From this point on, it’s a tricky future that only the highly aware and spiritually discerning can progress from.

Following the natural progression on success and the enamored crowd, the less spiritually-grounded who has built a strong following from a declared idea and ideal will allow ego to take the lead. I’m very good, my way is the only way. The crowd will always agree, even pour praises to the ego, not hiving much attention to the ideals.

Ego, being insatiable, will bask and crave some more while the cheering crowd will no longer see the ideal for the idol.

The greater crowd that comes in after the success is not even aware there was an ideal to start with and only see the idol. Having a photo with the idol is the be all, end all. There is no time to listen and help expound.

The “idol”?

Having lost touch with the voice of inspiration that built up the success and by now only hearing his voice, will stick to the script that made it big. Growth and deeper introspection is set aside.

The soul, the depth, and most importantly the soul that will always aspire for depth and connection to the divine will be overshadowed, muffled by adoration to the ego.

The idol will then trudge on in the glory of mortals, many becoming haughty over the undertakings of others. There goes another person who would have made a difference in this world by stepping up and connecting with his higher self. The happiness ego brings is just too intoxicating, the bliss a soul can bring has no chance to be realized.

If this is you, listen to your heart away from the crowd. This was where it all started. Be still.
