CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Candidates aspiring for various posts in the Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30 this year were urged by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to present concrete plans to the people.
The DILG stressed that those who are eyeing positions should know the elective post they are planning to run for even before filing their certificates of candidacy which the Commission on Elections set from July 3-7.
“When they win, they should be prepared. They should not only study when they are already in the position. They should already have concrete plans on what they want to do, and these plans should be realistic and in line with their powers, functions, and responsibilities,” said DILG Central Luzon Director Anthony Nuyda.
The grassroots governance is important, according to the DILG official.
He said the development of the country lies in barangays with the future of the youth at stake.
Each village in the country will elect one Punong Barangay and seven members of the Sangguniang Barangay, and one chairperson and seven members of the Sangguniang Kabataan.
The BSKE campaign period is from October 19-28, 2023 while voting on election day will start at 7 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
The counting and canvassing of votes as well as the proclamation of winning candidates shall take place immediately after the voting is closed.
