HOG owners in Carcar City whose pigs were culled due to the African swine fever (ASF) will get financial assistance, Mayor Patrick Barcenas assured the residents Monday, March 20, 2023.

In a message during the flag-raising ceremony Monday, Barcenas said the City Government has been working hard to provide the assistance particularly to residents of Barangay Can-asujan, where more than 100 pigs were culled.

The culling happened during the first week after the ASF was detected in the city.

Barcenas also said Monday that the City Government was also behind the efforts to halt the scheduled culling of other pigs in Sitio Calisujan, Barangay Guadalupe.

“Naningkamot gyud ta nga dili ma-cull o mapatay ang baboy kay purbida ka dako nako og bayranan ug kalooy sa Ginoo kay wala gyud,” Barcenas said.

Carcar City Administrator Jose Marie Poblete said earlier that the City Council was planning to declare a “state of calamity” due to ASF.

He said the City’s disaster funds will be allocated for the financial assistance. (EHP)
