NEW Police Regional Office Davao Region (PRO-Davao) Regional Director seeks to increase police visibility in a bid to boost security on the ground.

On March 20, 2023, PBGen. Alden B. Delvo, new PRO-Davao regional director, officially accepted the responsibility as the commander of the agency.

“This is a dream come true, a dream of every general to become a Regional Director to serve as a commander,” Delvo said during his acceptance speech at the PRO-Davo Pulis Bagani Hall, Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City.

He said that as he assumes the responsibility as the new regional director, the first thing that he will do is to put his personnel on the field.

“Let's go back to the basics, especially patrolmen, PFC (Patrolman First Class) rank, you should be on the streets, not the offices, be street smart and learn the basics of investigation,” he said.

He added that they should start with traffic investigation.

“Siguro marami pa sa inyo hindi marunong ng traffic investigation before you go up to homicide investigation and what not,” he said.

Also, he reminded Dabawenyos that “drugs have no place in Davao”.

“This menace is still the number one enemy of the country right now, so let’s all propagate the BIDA program natin, buhay ay ingatan, droga ay ayawan,” he said.

Aside from intensifying the BIDA program, he also said to strengthen the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) program.

“We will strengthen this program as I see this as the most effective way to reach out to the frontlines,” he said.

He said that government services should reach the far-flung areas or geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (Gidas) in order to maintain peace and order in the region.

“If we will abandon these gidas that are considered insurgency cleared we will tempt the enemy of re-gaining those areas,” he said.

Meanwhile, Delvo reminded all PRO personnel that they should always be aware of their sworn duty to the people.

“Service to the people is tantamount to the service to God. If you’re busy and you forgot to pray, your service to the people becomes your prayer,” he said.

Delvo has replaced PBGen. Benjamin H Silo Jr. as the regional director as his term already ended. KSD
