TO avoid accidents, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) reminded Dabawenyos to secure their pets during the Ironman 70.3 event on March 26.

“Katong naay mga alaga nga mga iro ug iring or any na mga hayop, hipuson sa ninyo kay atong ginalikayan na mo-cross sila sa mga kadalanan nato while nagdagan or nag-bike ang mga athletes (We ask pet owners to secure their pets during the sports event because we want to prevent them crom crossing the street and getting into an accident with athletes),” PMaj. Catherine dela Rey, DCPO spokesperson, said in an interview on Davao City Disaster Radio on March 20, 2023.

“Ang instinct baya gyud nato kay likayan, basin mag-domino effect kay puro baya na sila paspas mag-bike, paspas managan so nagkumpol-kompol gyud na sila padulong didto sa Davao del Norte pabalik diri (The athletes’ first instinct would be to avoid the pets if they see them cross the street. But this could cause an accident as they may collide with fellow athletes who are running or on their bikes),” Dela Rey said.

Meanwhile, on the day of the event, from 3:00 am to 10:30 am, the southbound side of Alcantara to Lasang in Bunawan District to Tagum City, passing through Panabo City and Municipality of Carmen, will be closed.

From 3:00 am to 12:30 pm, the northbound side of Alcantara to Lasang will be closed.

Also, the northbound side going to Lanang from corner J. P. Laurel Avenue and F. Torre Street to Alcantara will be closed from 3:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. KSD
