THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), through the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), is constructing at least 100 housing units in Pindulonan village, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur.

The P65 million funds for the construction of the housing units was sourced from the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2022.

The groundbreaking was held on Monday, March 20, signaling the start of the project.

The housing project will benefit qualified members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), and internally displaced persons (IDPs) upon validation.

Lawyer Hamid Aminoddin Barra, MHSD minister, said the project is the first to be implemented by the agency in Lanao del Sur through a memorandum of agreement with the municipal government of Saguiran.

The previous projects in the province of Lanao del Sur went through the bidding process and are currently being constructed by private entities.

“I am confident that, through the leadership of Mayor Angin, the project will be implemented,” Barra said, thanking the municipal government as well for accepting the project.

Meanwhile, Saguiaran Mayor Jalalodin Angin thanked the MHSD and the leadership of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim for the trust in Saguiaran's capability to implement the project.

"I am grateful to the regional government. I am a first-termer local executive and this is the first-ever big project under my administration, hence, I commit to do my best in the implementation,” Angin said.

He guaranteed that his administration will help on its full capacity to ensure that the project will benefit those who need it most. (SunStar Zamboanga)
