MARVIN Lastimoso, dubbed as the “human statue of Colon,” was hired as a security guard of the Mandaue City Social Welfare (CSWS) office. His work will start on April 1, 2023.

Camilo Basaca Jr., CSWS officer-in-charge, said Monday, March 27, 2023, that Lastimoso will work as a job order employee and they are just waiting for him to submit his personal data sheet.

Lastimoso, 38, a resident of Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, recently made noise on social media for posing as a human statue on Colon Street in Cebu City with his body painted blue.

Lastimoso is a father of three children, but he is separated from his wife.

He said he became depressed and ended up as a street dweller.

His mother, Vivian, 59, said she did not expect her son to become popular, adding that she was surprised when Lastimoso went home and many people came looking for him.

“Nahibung na lang ko nga na viral na siya sa social media. Na-shocked na lang ko nga naa ning ari diri ug nangita niya,” Vivian said.

(I was shocked to learn that he went viral on social media and people came here looking for him.)

Last March 24, Lastimoso received P30,000 in financial assistance, as well as food packs from the Mandaue City Government.

He said he would use the money to support his children’s schooling and start a small business.
