IT’S time to make travel plans heading to Palawan as it sets out to be an event destination this summer, April 21 to 22, 2023, at the Costa Palawan Resort. Two of Puerto Princesa’s highly anticipated music festivals, Midsummer and Mic Check, are coming together for one weekend by the beach packed with music, food, camping, and other activities.

With Midsummer being the premier dance music event and Mic Check being the preeminent local band collective now both under one music festival banner, Meanwhile in Palawan (MIP), there will be a total of 30 acts performing from afternoon ‘til evening. Featuring music across different genres, each set will be its own experience. The lineup will be composed of homegrown talents along with guests The Chongkeys, Marc Marasigan, Kate Jagdon, and Frac Attack.

MIP is also a movement and collaboration for the small and micro-enterprises. With the participation of various local kitchens, clothing merchandisers, hotels, transport operators, and other lifestyle establishments, it is in itself a community effort by the local business sector to deliver a vibrant festival experience for everyone—with a total of 28 stalls comprising the food park, market area, and service stations.

As part of the tourism adventure, MIP offers vacation packages inclusive of hotel accommodation, tour destination itineraries, transportation, and event passes. More outdoorsy guests can set up camp at the venue too, spend the night there, watch the stars, and enjoy a sunrise at the shore.

MIP has four agendas in its conception: (1) Homegrown Talent Development (2) Domestic Tourism Promotion, (3) Local MSME Collaboration, and (4) Nature Appreciation. That being said, attendees can look forward to enjoying the festival at different phases of the day: watch the talent perform on stage, have a bite at the food park, check out some merchandise, ‘gram with the art installations, or just sit by the beach. The goal is to share moments and touch lives. That is what Meanwhile in Palawan is all about. (PR)
