5 Bacolod workers given 10 days to comply with COA rules

THE five government employees of Bacolod City who have yet to locate the government-issued vehicles were already given 10 days to comply the Commission on Audit (COA) rules, City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr., said on Monday, March 27.

Ting said the five employees were given requirements to be submitted to the COA so they can be relieved of their responsibility for the said units.

He said the five employees include three employees from the Office of the Building Official (OBO), and one each from the City Cooperative Livelihood Office, and the City Management and Auditing Services Office.

The 10-day deadline will end on April 6.

If they fail to show up, they will be issued a disciplinary action or be subjected to a suspension.

At least 45 government employees were earlier given a notice to explain why they failed to present the government-issued vehicles.

Five of them claimed that the units issued to them were stolen.

The city is still looking for at least 90 government vehicles that were issued to city employees.

Of the 500 government-issued vehicles, 88 are not reported, and 13 others have no documents to be verified.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez earlier issued a memorandum directing all employees who were given a memorandum receipt (MR) of the government vehicles to prepare the units for an inspection at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).*
