Bacolod eyes of constructing 5 mini-hospitals

THE city government of Bacolod is now planning to construct five mini-hospitals as part of the P5.5 billion loan proposed for the city, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Monday, March 27.

The mayor said he already forwarded his letter to the City Council for the authority to sign the P5.5 billion proposed loan with the Land Bank of the Philippines, adding that he is still waiting for its approval.

He said all the projects for the proposed loan will pass through the council so they can ask questions regarding its implementation.

Based on the approved investment plan (AIP) of Bacolod, aside from the acquisition of lots and other socio-economic development projects, the loan will also be utilized for infrastructure, port development, waterworks programs, and post-Covid-19 projects.

Also part of the loan was the construction of the legislative building at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) and the improvement of the health system through the construction of five mini-hospitals to decongest the patients in various hospitals, especially at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Benitez said.

"These mini-hospitals will be constructed in the strategic areas of Bacolod so that all Bacolodnons can access the medical services. These mini-hospitals will be composed of complete medical personnel, such as 24/7 doctors and nurses or telemedicine for a consultation and admission," he said.

He added that several patients were seen lining up in front of CLMMRH for a consultation.

The mayor disclosed that as soon as the proposed loan is approved, they will start the construction of the five mini-hospitals with an initial proposed budget of P50 million per hospital.*
