Reward for info on police chief's killers raised to P1.2M

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Authorities have raised cash reward for anyone who can identify and locate the assailants of Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlon Serna, chief of police of San Miguel, Bulacan.

Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo, director of the Police Regional Office III (PRO-3), said a total of P1.2-million will be given as reward to tipster who can help solve the case.

The cash reward will come from the Department of Interior and Local Government which is offering P500,000; PRO-3, P300,000; P200,000 from Philippine National Police Chief General Rodolfo Azurin Jr.; and P200,000 from Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando.

Hidalgo has already ordered the conduct of an in-depth and thorough investigation to identify the assailants.

Serna died on Saturday after he was shot by robbery suspects in San Ildefonso town in the same province.

Serna was leading a follow up investigation and hot pursuit against the suspects.

The chief of police was rushed to Emmanuel Hospital in San Miguel town but died while being treated.
