POLICE have seized a kilo of shabu amounting to P5.6 million after they arrested a 19-year-old man whose contact is reportedly a detainee of Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan.
The suspect, Henry Pitogo Abregana, was caught at Carreta Cemetery by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) on Wednesday morning, March 29, 2023.
DEU chief Lt. Col. Dindo Alaras said they had been monitoring Abregana’s illegal activity for over two weeks prior to the arrest.
In a separate interview, CCPO Director Col. Ireneo Dalogdog said Abregana had admitted to them that Jomari Castro, a Cebu City Jail detainee, was his contact, giving him orders where to deliver the illegal drugs.
Castro reportedly used a cellphone in communicating with Abregana.
The city jail officers had initially denied that there was any contraband inside the facility, including cellular phones from detainees or the persons deprived of liberty.
Abregana admitted that he was enticed to sell the drugs because he was offered P10,000 if he could sell the entire stock.
Police described the suspect as a high-value individual in the regional level due to the large quantity of drugs seized from his possession. (BBT, AYB / TPT)
