ANTI-NARCOTICS operatives arrested a Chinese national who yielded P4 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in an operation in Baguio City on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Police said Hui Ming was arrested during the service of a search warrant at a house in Barangay Irisan.

Operatives recovered a total of 575 kilos of shabu.

In an interview with reporters, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. said the illegal drugs are not only intended to be distributed within the Cordillera region.

“Huwag kayo mag-aalala para sa mga taga Cordillera, huwag kayo mabigla dahil ito, nakaimbak ito. Hindi naman ito for distribution for Cordillera, for Baguio, hindi po ganun ito. Ito ay idi-distribute sa iba-ibang lugar, kaya ‘yung nangyayari dito ay apektado ang buong bansa,” he said.

(Cordillerans need not worry because these drugs are in storage.This is not for distribution in Cordillera or Baguio. It will be distributed in different places. So what's currently happening here affects the whole country.)

“Well, we cannot really tell (why they store here in Baguio). It's part of the investigation, pero baka nagkakaroon sila ng mga (but maybe they had) strategic locations for certain area,” he added. (SunStar Philippines)
