THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula is deploying 1,795 policemen to ensure the solemn and peaceful observance of the Holy Week in the region.
The Holy Week starts on Palm Sunday, April 2, and ends on Easter Sunday, April 9.
Police Brigadier General Neil Alinsañgan, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the 1,795 policemen will guard a total 164 places of worships in the entire region.
Alinsañgan said they will also strengthen security in transportation hubs, major thoroughfares, commercial areas and other place of convergence.
“We will be deploying out personnel in areas identified to be frequently visited by tourists and locals,” Alinsañgan said.
“We will increase the number of policemen for Holy Week duty in the coming days as the need arises. As usual we will be doing some target hardenings,” he added.
Alinsañgan said the policemen will be deployed together with their counterpart in the military and other force multipliers.
He said they have not monitored any threat or any group planning to carry out attacks on places of worships and convergence. (SunStar Zamboanga)
