AN ALLEGED gang leader was arrested for carrying a gun and for causing disturbance in Sitio Bacsije, Barangay Ocaña, Carcar City, southern Cebu at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
The suspect was identified as Junrey Ponce Villaver, 24, reportedly a leader of Bloods gang from Centro, Barangay Liburon of the said city.
His .38 revolver with two live bullets was confiscated by the police.
Lieutenant Colonel Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of Carcar City Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that residents were concerned for their safety because the suspect was carrying a gun and seeking for someone from his rival organization, the Crips.
Cabagnot said a concerned citizen called their office and informed them about the incident.
The suspect was still holding a gun when responding policemen arrived.
"Naa ni siyay gipangita sa lugar karibal sa ilang gang. Nagbitbit og armas iyaha untang pusilon maong naalarma," Cabagnot revealed.
(He was looking for a member of their rival gang. He was carrying a weapon that he was meant to shoot, causing alarm).
Cabagnot said the suspect was previously arrested for the crime of frustrated murder and alarm and scandal recently.
The police official disclosed that majority of Villaver's members are minors who have been accused of participating in robbery incidents in their place. (GPL, TPT)
