CHIEF Inspector Stephen Jardeleza assumed his post as the new fire marshal of Bacolod City Fire Station, effective March 27.
He succeeded Chief Inspector Rodel Legaspi, who was designated as the new acting provincial fire marshal of Negros Occidental.
Jardeleza was a former acting provincial fire marshal of Guimaras.
He said he will do his best to improve and continue the program of Legaspi for the people of Bacolod.
"We will double our efforts to upgrade the service delivery of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for our constituents," he said.
He added that they will introduce more innovations and intensify their campaign for fire safety prevention.
Jardeleza noted that he is also set to meet with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and other heads of agencies in Bacolod as their partners in the BFP campaign.
Jardeleza said he will evaluate the skills of his personnel to determine if they still stick with the standard or modern dynamics of fire fighting, and he will inventory their equipment to ensure that they are always ready to respond to fire incidents in the city.
Meanwhile, the BFP honored their partners from the local government unit, national government agencies, non-government organizations, volunteer fire brigades, rescue groups, and members of the local media during the culmination activity of the Fire Prevention Month 2023 themed "Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa" at the Bacolod City Fire Station, San Juan Street, Barangay 8, on Thursday.
Legaspi said he is thankful to Mayor Alfredo Benitez for extending his support to the BFP as well as to Councilor Psyche Marie Sy, chairperson of the City Council committee on fire, social defense, and national disasters.
Legaspi also expressed his gratitude to all the barangay officials, fire volunteers, and all the government agencies that are actively helping the BFP.*
