A WEEK ago, my family and I had the opportunity to watch "The Sound of Music" at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Ayala Mall Circuit Makati.

It was wonderful! The cast was mostly from the United States. Two Filipino actors, Karylle Tatlonghari and Markki Stroem, were able to join. They were all magnificent.

"The Sound of Music" is a Broadway musical first shown in 1959, and later made into a film in 1965 about the Von Trapp Family Singers.

The main character is Maria, a young postulant (to become a nun) in Austria who was sent to be the governess to Captain Von Trapp’s, seven children. She falls in love with the children and eventually, marries the widowed captain.

One of our family activities is watching movies. My parents’ all-time favorite was "The Sound of Music."

They introduced this to us when we were younger. We would watch this repeatedly.

When the grandchildren arrived, Mom would still view this movie with them. Most of the time, I joined them too. When Resorts World Manila produced the stage show in 2011–2012, we were present, too.

We really love the songs. The remarkable songs were composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. "Climb Every Mountain," "Do-Re-Mi," "My Favorite Things," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," and "So Long, Farewell" are just some of my personal favorites.

Family get togethers are encouraged. Many people would say that spending time with their family makes them happy. Perhaps one of the things you can do, is watch a play or a movie. Not really in Manila, but here in Negros Occidental. It would make you feel good.

Holy Week is fast approaching. Sunday is Palm Sunday. Roman Catholics are encouraged to visit the church y. Roman Catholics are encouraged to visit the church seven times if they practice Visita Iglesia and pray together as a family. It will be nice to teach the young to love Jesus at an early age. To know His story and how He suffered and died for us.

The social media have made it easy for us to know the Holy Week schedule. Check it out today!

Have a blessed Holy Week.*
