AT LEAST 15 employees from different departments of the local government unit (LGU) of Kananga in Leyte received skills training in technical and administrative writing from March 29 to 30, 2023.
"LGU Kananga's Technical Writing Workshop is a valuable investment in the professional development of its employees. It is a promising step towards improving communication and service delivery," said Kananga Tourism Officer April Tanhueco.
“By empowering employees with better writing skills, the LGU can ensure that important information is communicated effectively and efficiently to those who need it,” she added.
Participants of the two-day technical writing workshop thanked Kananga Mayor Manuel Vicente “Matt” Torres for the initiative.
"We learned a lot and used some of their advice immediately. It made our jobs easy," said Kirby Jay Quijano, a personnel from the Mayor's Office.
Aaron JP Almadro, one of the resource speakers, also lauded Kananga LGU for coming up with the activity, saying it enabled the employees to perform their office tasks “with flair and ease.”
“By enhancing their writing abilities, participants can better communicate technical information to colleagues, superiors, and the public, ultimately leading to more efficient and effective service delivery by the LGU,” said Tanhueco.
The other participants of the workshops were Reygie Sua and Ma. Alleoni Poliquit (Kananga Tourism Office); Lemebeth Caparos (Mayor's Office); Marnelli Plazos, Vanessa Mae Madeja, and Sheryl Dedace (Vice Mayor's Office); Vivian Gallardo and Ruby Angeli Montanejos (Municipal Planning and Development Office); Milca Caminde (Sangguniang Bayan Secretary Office); Ricky Bancale (Human Resources Management Office); Nympha Dasigan (Municipal Health Office); Chona Cotiangco (Public Employment Service); and Jerjie Suson (Municipal Treasurer's Office).
The additional topics during the activity included basic grammar and style, documentation, publication and press release writing. (SunStar Philippines)
