Fire displaces 23 families

AT LEAST 23 families with 94 individuals were displaced due to the fire that hit a community in downtown Zamboanga Friday, March 31, 2023.

The Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) said the fire broke out around 10:57 a.m. Friday, March 31, at De Leon Compound destroying 22 houses in Zone 4 village, Zamboanga City.

The ZCFD said 16 of the 22 affected houses were totally damaged while the remaining six were partially damaged.

No casualties were reported but several people obtained minor injuries.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office have dispatched fire trucks, water tankers and ambulances to the fire scene to augment the resources of the ZCFD and other volunteer groups.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office, upon instructions from Mayor John Dalipe, has distributed immediate relief assistance, as it conducts validation and assessment of the affected families. (SunStar Zamboanga)
