Fish merchant killed, pal wounded in gun attack

A FISH merchant was killed while his companion survived although wounded in a gun attack in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Sunday, April 9.

Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the fatality as Alhadz Hajula, a fish merchant, and wounded as Adzfar Lakkian.

Mallo said the incident happened around 7:36 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Purok 2 in Solar village, Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Mallo said investigation showed the victims were seated on a bench of a used clothes stall when suddenly two unidentified gunmen riding tandem on a motorcycle stopped in front of them and shot the victims.

He said Hajula was hit in the forehead that resulted in his instantaneous death while Lakkian was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect immediately fled and recovered at the crime scene were three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol. (SunStar Zamboanga)
