NEGROS Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II laid out plans to start a Cultural Hub at the Capitol Park and Lagoon.

Diaz said Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has a goal that the Capitol will be the center of cultural exchange.

He made the revelation after several families had fun during the Easter Egg Hunt activity at the Capitol Park on Easter Sunday.

"We are working with some groups that will provide regular jamming on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, like busking," he said.

Busking is street performance in exchange for gratuities.

"This is part of the cultural development of our youth. We are developing talents by exposing them to these venues, hoping they will develop in music to spread the heritage of our province," Diaz said.

Activities that have been previously held at the Lagoon feature attractive decors of significant events such as Valentine's Day, the Christmas season, the Panaad Festival, and others.

"We would like the Capitol Park and Lagoon to be known as a place where culture is abundant, and where culture can be experienced," Diaz added.

Negrenses can now have local delicacies and different coffee varieties that are grown in the province through the Cafe-telyo Cafe inside the Lagoon, he said.

Diaz said there were also suggestions that movies about Negros history and culture be shown at the park so people can be aware of it and be proud of their identity as Negrosanons.*
