POLICE personnel in the southern Cebu town of San Fernando have already obtained a CCTV footage from the area in the municipality’s barangay San Isidro where Alpha Kappa Rho leader Lloyd Procianos was shot dead on Tuesday morning, April 11, 2023.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, deputy director for operations of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), they are still reviewing the video footage to determine who the gunman is.

He claimed they already know the victim’s history, however it cannot yet be revealed due to their ongoing investigation.

Although a personal grudge has been eyed as the crime's motive, the authorities have not ruled out the possibility that it has something to do with the victim’s position as Grand Skeptron of the Akrho fraternity.

Sucalit dismissed the idea that the incident might lead to a fraternity war, and directed the police chief of San Fernando to hold a dialogue with the members of the different fraternity groups in the municipality to prevent the problem from escalating further.

“Upon receipt ana ato nang gipahimangnoan ang hepe ug ubang hepe sa probinsya to engage with the different yung mga brotherhood even kanang grupo sa mga batan-on to avoid yung gitawag nga gang war,” Sucalit stressed.

(Upon receipt of that (incident), we advised the chief (of San Fernando) and other chiefs in the province to interact with the various brotherhoods, including that group of young people, to avoid the so-called gang war).

Sucalit revealed that they already coordinated with the Akrho members under their jurisdiction to find out if there were conflicts between them and other fraternity organizations in the area.

The San Fernando Police Station has already a witness to the incident and is counting on that person to identify the perpetrator. (AYB, TPT)
