Canadian national dies while watching whale sharks in Oslob

A Canadian national suffered a heart attack while diving off Barangay Tan-awan in Oslob town, southern Cebu to watch whale sharks around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

The victim, Lisa Anne Eve-Liudzius, 59, was rushed to Oslob District Hospital, where the attending physician pronounced her dead when she arrived.

Captain Ian Macatangay, chief of Oslob Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that the victim and her husband, Mark Anthony Liudzius, were out diving early Thursday morning when the incident occurred.

It was their second time to visit the area.

Macatangay said the woman complained that she had difficulty breathing while diving, prompting her husband to bring her to the seashore.

He revealed that they recommended performing an autopsy on the victim, but the husband declined, claiming that there was no foul play involved in her passing. (GPL, TPT)
