Mixlada opens Panaad sa Negros Art Exhibit

MIXLADA, an art group that trains and motivates young and budding artists in collaboration with known artists in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, opened an art exhibit dubbed "PANAAD Sa Negros Festival Art Exhibit" at the Bacolod City Pavilion, Panaad Park and Stadium on April 17.

Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Benitez, City Tourism Officer Ma. Teresa Manalili and Councilor Vladimir Gonzalez graced the opening of the art exhibit.

Sugar Cuenca-Tonogbanua, artist and organizer, said she and her fellow artists gathered to promote art during the long-awaited Panaad sa Negros Festival.

Mixlada features the art works of Negrense artists—Andrea Locsin, Cora Soriano, Jerrylyn Mangao, Konica Faustino, Mae Nicole L. Subebe, Mai Cuenca, Malou G. Flores, Marides Zayco, Melvin De La Cruz, Patty Jane Ku Ong, Ramon Alonso, Rena Muzones, Steve Maquiling, Sugar Cuenca-Tonogbanua, T-ray Perez, and Ziarene Talamillo.

This art exhibit will run from April 17-23.

"We are happy to share the beautiful artworks of Bacolod and Negrense artists as part of tourism. We want to bring a smile to the visitors and tourists when they come to the Bacolod Pavilion as parts of the exhibit are hand-painted masks," Tonogbanua said.

This exhibit will help bring the essence and emotions of art to the people and art collectors who will admire and understand our artwork.

This provides us with a platform to promote our different styles and passion for doing art. It is also an opportunity for us to meet existing and potential art collectors and promote our city that we indeed have great artists too, she said.

She also thanked Benitez and Manalili for supporting local artists and giving the group a chance to show their art pieces during the festivities.

"We are blessed to be part of this year's Panaad,” Tonogbanua said. She also dedicated the exhibit to all artists and to “continue your passion and share the joy of painting with the viewers. Be inspired to always do your best for God's glory and be a blessing to the community through your art.”
