Suspects who fatally shot fellow guard in Bohol gas station robbery nabbed

THE three suspects in the gas station robbery that left a security guard dead in Ubay town, Bohol on Monday, April 17, were apprehended during a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Guinacot, Guindulman town at 5:31 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19.

They were identified as Florencio Pelonia, 54, a security guard of Sailors Oil gasoline station who hails from Barangay Lombog, Guindulman; Rogelio Edisa, 27, a native of Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte, but temporarily resided in Barangay Cabulihan Zamora, Bilar town; and Jerry Ofamin, 37, of Barangay Bato, Guindulman.

A .45 pistol with four bullets, P15,500 in cash and a Honda XRM motorcycle were taken from Pelonia. Edisa also yielded .45 pistol with five bullets, P10,243 in cash and Suzuki Raider 150cc motorcycle and Ofamin his Honda Wave 110cc motorcycle.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Joemar Pomarejos, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Bohol Police Provincial Office, they immediately tracked down the suspects with the help of Ubay policemen after a witness identified Pelonia as the driver of getaway motorcycle, with fellow guard Ofamin acting as lookout.

“Naay saksi sir nga nakaila sa suspect nga kini si Florencio Pelonia ang usa sa nagtulis, kini siya sir active security guard sa usa sa mga branch sa Sailors Oil gasoline station, unya trusted pa gyud ni siya sa tag-iya sa company,” Pomarejos said.

(There is a witness sir who identified Florencio Pelonia, an active security guard of one of Sailors Oil branches and is trusted by the owner of the company, as one of the robbers).

The accused allegedly knew the schedules for collecting sales from Sailors Oil branches in Bohol. The suspects will be facing charges for robbery with homicide. (AYB, TPT)
