IT IS not a surprise that there are many beautiful tourist attractions in Iloilo, which is part of Panay Island. This place cannot be called "The Heart of the Philippines" if it does not live up to its title.

The Spanish colonial architectural design of churches, old houses, famous and timeless Ilonggo food, as well as beautiful beaches, are all elements that make this city special.

Aside from these, hidden wonders can also be found in the rural barangays of Leon town, Iloilo, such as in Barangay Bucari, known as the "Summer Capital of Iloilo" or "little Baguio."

If you are looking for other forms of adventure such as trekking or falls-hopping that can only be found in Iloilo, or looking for a cool place in the Visayas, Bucari is the perfect getaway.

ACTIVITIES IN BUCARI

Go on a day hike or camp overnight

Experience the beauty of Bucari Pine Forest by going on a day hike or camping overnight. The local government unit of Leon manages the campsite, and the area is safe and secure.

Try local food

Despite being a small village, there are affordable food options from carenderias near the campsite. Don't miss the chance to try the local dish called linagpang – sinabawang sinugba, which is a version of bisayang manok. The barangay also offers their version of batchoy, priced at P30 and known for its flavorful taste.

Trek to Mt. Mansiga/Mansiga View Deck

Your Bucari experience wouldn't be complete without trekking to Mt. Mansiga/Mansiga View Deck. The trail takes around 30 to 40 minutes to reach Mansiga, where you can appreciate nature more. It's better to trek at dawn to witness the sunrise.

Go falls-hopping in Sitio Camandag

After trekking, cool down by going falls hopping in Sitio Camandag. The falls in the area are not as high as those in other parts of the country, but they are still breathtaking and refreshing.
