THE Davao International Airport (DIA) heightened its security following an incident where a vlogger entered the airport with a false identity and a boarding pass.

“Right now, naa ta’y mga target hardening of security measures (we have heightened the security measures inside),” Rex Obcena, manager of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines in Davao (CAAP-Davao), said during the AFP-PNP press conference on April 19, 2023.

“Naghimo na ta karun og another layer of security wherein ang among mga security forces are checking the boarding pass, a valid boarding pass and in some cases gina-check pud ang government issued ID (We have created another layer of security wherein our security forces are checking the boarding pass, valid boarding pass and in some cases we are also checking government issued ID),” he added.

He said these security measures are done on the 2nd floor going to the boarding area.

He added that they have also removed the airlines' tables to avoid redundancy upon checking boarding passes.

“Para (so that) only passengers are allowed,” he said.

However, there are instances that they will allow non-passengers to loiter in some areas if there are dignitaries aboard.

“But we will issue them a stick-on pass,” he said.

Meanwhile, the vlogger who was involved in the incident will reportedly be facing charges for using a false airline employee’s identification card, said Obcena. KSD
