Man shot dead in front of live-in partner in Sawang Calero

A 26-YEAR-OLD man was shot and killed in front of his live-in partner on on JM Basa Street, Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

The victim was identified as July Dominique Ceballos Paradero.

According to Staff Sergeant Vincent Gonzalve, investigator of Sawang Calero Police Station, the victim was lying on his live-in partner’s lap while watching television with his brother and nephew when the perpetrator, who was wearing gray long sleeve, denim shorts and a tube mask and full faced helmet, arrived, shot Paradero, then fled on a waiting motorcycle driven by his companion, who also served as a lookout.

The victim was hit in the head, and the bullet exited through his left eye. Panadero’s brother reportedly tried to chase the gunman but retreated because he was armed.

Jelie Mejarez, the victim’s live-in partner who is three months pregnant, however, failed to identify the attacker.

Gonzalve said they still have to verify reports that the victim had been mistaken for a police asset.

The Sawang Calero Police Station 6 is looking for any CCTV cameras in the vicinity to help them identify the culprit.

It was learned that the victim was previously imprisoned for illegal possession of firearm and was released last year after posting bail. (GPL, AYB, TPT)
