AS the post-pandemic travel fever hits many this year, the Department of Tourism believes that Philippine tourism has fully recovered after the previous years’ low number of international travelers.
With 1 million tourists already visiting this country for the first quarter of 2023, DOT has a positive outlook with reaching its target international arrivals.
With more people doing “revenge travel”, a phrase used for traveling after the pandemic when they were not allowed to travel anymore, people are looking forward to visiting more countries, including the Philippines. According to previous reports, 2021 has seen 2.5 million arrivals.
Although not quite reaching pre-pandemic numbers of more than 8 million international arrivals, 2022 tourism has seen better numbers compared to the 2021. DOT, however, is much more optimistic that the Philippines can double the amount of tourists for this year.
As part of promoting Philippine tourism, DOT is focusing on various local travel destinations, especially the ones in Mindanao. Launching a campaign in May of 2022, the promo shows a united Mindanao as a colorful place to be. With the help of conventions such as the upcoming Travel and Leisure Expo (TLEX) 2023, the event aims at promoting Davao City and its neighboring islands to locals and foreign tourists.
TLEX 2023 is back in Davao this year to provide a place where tourists and locals can proudly check out good deals from airlines, hotels and resorts offering world class amenities perfect for the christmas and summer getaway with friends and families. Showcasing different travel destinations, hospitality and tourism sectors, TLEX in Davao will be packed with great deals for would-be travelers.
