The Recoletos landmark unveiled at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) main campus on April 29, 2023 solidifies the historic presence of the Augustinian Recollect in Cebu whose religious and educational mission is embedded in the teachings of St. Augustine.
I had an interactive talk with USJ-R president Fr. Edcel Celis. His vision for USJ-R is the reinforcement of academic excellence, and expansion of physical facilities and infrastructure not only in Cebu but across the region. Fr. Celis has been a constant participant in the growth of USJ-R, and his view of team management and multisectoral linkages will definitely be the right thrust.
Meanwhile, the Josenian alumni are spread out all over the world. I am in touch with so many of them, specifically the USJ-R Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble and the Amparito L. Lhuillier Educational Foundation scholars. Yes, I get news from as far as Dubai, Madrid, and certainly from parts of the United States and Asia.
In My Diary has been sharing news from USJ-R, as it celebrates its 400 years of Recoletos presence in Cebu.
