AROUND 20 Abrenian public school teachers recently attended a two-day Training for Trainers on the Fundamentals of Robotics at the Calaba Elementary School in Bangued, Abra.

Organized by the Department of Science and Technology in cooperation with the Mechatronics and Robotics Society of the Philippines (MRSP), the training aims to teach the teachers with the fundamentals of robotics that will eventually be integrated in the education curriculum for students.

The workshop proper guided the teachers from the theoretical aspect leading to the familiarization of spare parts, operations and basic assembly of robotics.

“Nakaka-excite naman itong training dahil bagong-bago lang sa akin ito. It’s a workshop that I have not yet experienced. Hopefully, available ang mga robot kits para masubokan din ng mga students,” Cherry Taguines, Teacher II of Rosalion Eduarte National High School, said in an interview.

This will further enhance the skills and knowledge of students on physics, electronics and robotics especially those who are planning to enroll in electronics-related and engineering courses, she added.

Dr. Nastaran Nazar Zadeh, speaker from MRSP, said that the parts needed for the basic assembly are made available in the Philippines with various suppliers.

“We have multiple suppliers such as the Probot and other companies that will supply the needs for the teachers who will be teaching this to their students as well,” Dr. Zadeh explained. She said that they continue to assist their participants even after the training to achieve their goals.

Aside from the basic concept of robotics, the teachers were also taught the fundamentals of automation by using specific programming tools and softwares. (PR)
